This short MicroLesson provides an overview of how to design and implement reasonable adjustments in the workplace. In many countries workplace health and safety legislation includes responsibilities for psychological health and safety. Such legislation requires employers to ensure that their workplaces do not cause ill health or aggravate existing conditions. Many countries also have legislation governing non-discrimination. This requires organisations to ensure that workers with mental health issues are not discriminated against or harassed, either directly or indirectly, in the workplace. Responsibility extends to making reasonable adjustments (i.e., providing support) to balance employee and business needs.
