Psychological Injury Risk and Institutional Silence
Overcoming the barriers to creating positive mental health cultures.
Psychological injury claims are some of the most expensive workers compensation claims, often lead to more lost work time and involve complex investigations. As well as the economic impacts, organisations have obligations to create psychologically safe workplaces, to recognise and control for risks and to appropriately respond when issues arise.
Organisations today are ‘doing more with less’ and implementing ‘lean principles’. Doing so while maintaining a productive, vibrant and safe workforce can be a challenge. Relentless change and pressure in organisations have increasingly resulted in employees reporting higher levels of stress, which negatively affects productivity. Leaders need to understand how to prevent, recognise and appropriately respond to mental health issues in the workplace. This includes unhealthy levels of stress, excessive demands and conflict. However, the responsibility doesn’t only sit with leaders. Organisations as a whole need to take responsibility for minimising and appropriately responding to risks of psychological harm.
Tasha is currently conducting PhD research in the topic of organisational mental health and institutional silence. In this session Tasha will present the latest global and local research on psychological injury risk, appropriate controls and strategies to implement to meet your needs.
This session is particularly relevant for conferences where delegates hold senior Executive / Safety or HR positions in their organisation or industry.

Enhancing psychological wellbeing in the workplace.
Almost half of all adults will experience mental health issues in their lifetime and this can have wide reaching costs and impacts for the workplace. Unfortunately, despite the high impact of mental health issues in the workplace, many leaders do not know how to recognise or how to appropriately support an employee who is developing mental health problems.
In this session Tasha outlines the 5 steps organisations need to follow to develop a Workplace Mental Health strategy that delegates can apply in their own organisations. This session will reduce stigma around mental health issues and provide practical tools on how to open a conversation with someone you’re concerned about.
Leaders will leave this session understanding their obligations around workplace psychological safety and be better equipped to appropriately recognise and respond to mental health issues in the workplace.
This session is particularly relevant for conferences where delegates hold leadership positions in their organisation or industry.

Over the last twenty years we have seen targeted awareness raising programs which have helped improve our collective mental health literacy. Many people now understand that mental health is an integral part of health. Almost half of all adults will experience mental health issues in their lifetime and this can have wide reaching costs and impacts. However, rates of mental health issues do not seem to be reducing, and some risks are increasing. We need to do more than talk, we need a revolution of how we approach mental wellbeing. In this session Tasha outlines the 5 steps we can each take to improve both responsiveness to mental health concerns, and importantly how to proactively improve our mental wellbeing.
This session is an interactive and energising session that agitates delegates to take proactive responsibility for their own mental wellbeing and to better support those around them.

When change feels like it is never-ending and is having a negative impact on your organisation and industry, people can become resistant and disruptive. Our most common approach to managing change is to focus on the WHAT and the WHEN and we forget about the WHO. Yet, it’s the people (THE WHO) that either makes or breaks the change process.
Change and growth is important for any business to stay successful, so it is important that you ensure your leaders are well equipped to make the most out of your ever evolving sector. This session provides an overview of the process, impacts and psychology of change and draws on neuroscience to provide clear strategies for individuals to bloom through times of change.
This session is particularly relevant to leaders in business, however it can be adapted to all levels of employees.
