Mental Health & Wellbeing for New Parents
This session assists those about to become parents, or who have recently become parents, to identify their own mental health needs and to develop plans and strategies to enhance their own wellbeing.
Whilst one in five Australian adults experience a mental health disorder every year, the physical, emotional, role, responsibility and identity changes of pregnancy and parenthood can increase the risk of developing mental health problems and can exacerbate any pre-existing conditions.
Topics covered:
- Pregnancy and postnatal mental health for women and men
- Depression
- Anxiety disorders
- Psychosis
- Where to get help and support
This program is for expectant and new parents who want to know how to optimise their emotional wellbeing at this time of great change.
It is a 2 hour session suitable for up to 18 participants.
