Mental Illness in the Workplace, for Supervisors and Managers

Session Content:

  • Common mental illnesses, their signs, symptoms and functional impact in the workplace.
  • Responding to mental health issues in the workplace:
  • Roles and responsibilities,
  • Strategies to approach and address staff with mental health issues,
  • Resources to assist Managers,
  • Reasonable workplace accommodations for mental illness.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will have increased awareness and understanding of the common mental illnesses of anxiety, depression and psychosis.
  • For each of these illnesses, participants will be able to recognise the symptoms and functional impact in the workplace.
  • Participants will be aware of their roles and responsibilities when responding to mental health issues in the workplace.
  • Participants will learn strategies to approach and address staff with mental health issues.
  • Participants will learn about resources available to assist Managers and Supervisors to support employees with mental illness.
  • Participants will learn about how to develop reasonable workplace accommodations for mental illness.

This one day program is suited to Managers and Supervisors.
We also have a half day seminar which is suitable as an awareness raising program for all staff.
These sessions are suitable for groups of up to 18 participants.
