World Suicide Prevention Day - 10th September 2011
Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 8:54PM World Suicide Prevention Day in September 10th 2011. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness around the globe that suicide can be prevented. Disseminating information, improving education and training, and decreasing stigmatisation are important tasks in such an endeavour.
As part of the week long activities promotion suicide prevention awareness in Perth, Western Australia, you are invited to attend a series of events, hosted by One Life; in collaboration with WAAMH, Mental Health Commission, Ministerial Council for Suicide Prevention and Lifeline.
Venue: St Mary's Cathedral, Victoria Square, Perth WA 6000
Wednesday 7th September 9am - 11:30am. Mind Frame: In which participants will receive an overview of the evidence on the impact of media reporting about suicide and mental illness; information on the issues to consider when dealing with the media about suicide; and practical tips, advice and resources for engaging the media around these topics.
Wednesday 7th September 2pm - 5pm: Telephone, Web and Social Networking Suicide Prevention Forum.
