All About Anxiety

This program covers the symptoms, functional impact and best resources for common anxiety disorders.

Participants learn how to recognise the symptoms in themselves or others; how to approach someone whom they believe is experiencing anxiety,  and gain information about community supports that are available.

Anxiety disorders are the most common  mental illness in Australia today, however we often don’t know how to recognise or respond to someone experiencing anxiety.

In this session participants will learn:

  • the most common symptoms of anxiety
  • how it can affect a person’s functioning
  • treatments for anxiety
  • how to best assist people to access help and support
  • how to recognise and respond to panic attacks and acute stress reaction

This session is for those who are living with anxiety themselves, or who are supporting someone who is. This session will equip you with practical strategies to help, awareness of services available and a comprehensive participant take-home pack of additional information.

Very good. An excellent refresher as I was lucky enough to do Mental Health First Aid with Tasha earlier in the year. Strengths are the presenter and recounting of stories to “make the point”.

W. Hutchison, Project Planner

Very positive, interesting, educational and helpful. Strengths are the presenter and resources.

J. Runmosen, Asset Registrar

A good starting point to identify and manage anxiety. Strengths of the course are reaffirming the need for empathy consideration and kindness in humans.

C. Byers, Environmental Consultant

Great to see that we are talking about this openly. Open discussion.

A. McLaughlan, Engineer
